The jungle is a place a knight would never be expected to be seen, let alone dancing there, but this Saturday, Prospect’s turnabout dance will take the knights to the jungle.

Like all years before, the theme was voted on by members of the poms squad, and it was unanimously decided that from 8 to 11 p.m. on March 3, students would experience “A Knight in the Jungle.”

Sophomore poms member Jenny Delaney said that the “theme will be fun” and that the lunchroom will be decorated to bring it alive.

Poms are planning to use blow up monkeys and trees, scattering them around the cafeteria with streamers, posters and banners to make it feel as jungle-like as a cafeteria can, even with its tiled floor and lack of lush vegetation.

Like all dances, turnabout will have a favor to give away to all those that pay for a ticket in advance. There will be two favors, snap bracelets and sunglasses colored with animal print of different varieties, like leopard spots and zebra stripes.

Most importantly, though, Delaney said the music will consist of the usual popular songs that are played at all dances. Poms coordinator Courtney Fleaka said they decided to go with the same deejay they have used for the last nine years but will have more extensive lighting this year for a better effect.

One difference in the music, though, will be the occasional jungle themed song played for a fun way to incorporate music into the theme of the night.

Saturday night, the cafeteria will be home to a new creature of the jungle. This creature, the knight, comes looking for fun and a good time, dancing with its friends, and is sure to find that, especially if it gets its jungle boogie on.
