It’s that time of the year again.
The post-holiday winter doldrums are upon us, but never fear – for this week is Prospect’s annual Orchesis show.
The show, entitled “Uprising,” will premiere this Thursday, February 4 at 7:30pm in the Prospect theater. Tickets cost $8.50 online or if purchased at the Student Activities office in advance. Tickets will be $9.50 at the door.
The show will also be performed Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm. However, Saturday will also have a matinee show at 2:30, the proceeds of which will go to benefit the National Rett Syndrome Fund. Seeing as the event for attending the show on Facebook is already at 432 confirmed guests (and 317 “maybe attending”), tickets may run out quickly.
The dancers of Orchesis voted for “Uprising” to be the name of their show this year mainly because they felt it fits the theme of both the show and opening number.
“Uprising” is also the name of a recently released song by the popular band Muse, and is one of the 24 numbers the group will dance to. Of those 24 numbers, four have been choreographed by guest choreographers, one by Kristin Burlinkski, the sponsor of Orchesis, and the rest by the dancers themselves.
“It’s a really fun show,” said Burlinski, “I think anybody all ages would enjoy it.”
