The Office… Possible Reboot?

The Office… Possible Reboot?

By Hannah Connolly, News Editor
Picture it. Thirty years from now you live on a 1600 acre beet farm/bed and breakfast and work a day job at a peculiar paper company as the top salesman. The boss is your best friend. Bears are the best animal. Battlestar Galactica is your favorite show. You walk into work and you see your stapler. In jello. Only one person could be responsible for this: Jim Halpert.
The Office was a well known comedy TV show that ran from March 2005-May 2013, according to IMBd. Although it has been off-air for about 5 years now, there are still many fans of the show as it is on Netflix and other streaming apps.
I mean, I’m no exception, look through my texts and you will surely find exchanges between my friends and I about something Michael Scott or Jim Halpert said. Looking even further into my instagram saves and you will find a folder dedicated to the TV show that I only started watching about a year ago but has captivated and made me laugh from the very fisrt episode.
Many fans are asking the same question: Is their going to be a reboot? Acording to Buzzfeed, Actresses and Actors like Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Mindy Kahling, BJ Novak, and Rainn Wilson would all be willing to look into a reboot, their is just one problem: Michael Scott [Steve Carell] is not at all interested in doing a reboot.
Carell does not think it should be done because of the possibility that it could be disappointing to fans and since it would not be the same, it would not be as great as the origional show.
“I just don’t think it’s a great idea,” Carell said in an interview with The Daily Beast, “People who love the show love it because of what it was. And if you try to bring it back, it won’t be that. I won’t be exactly the same… ultimately I think fans would be disappointed because it isn’t exactly what they remember it being. So, I don’t know, I don’t think it’s a great idea.”
On the opposing side,Krasinski, although now a big movie star in movies such as ‘The Quiet Place’, thinks that the best type of episode would be a ‘Where are they now?’ Episode that shows what the characters are up to.
I for one think it would be very interesting to see if Dwight and Angela had kids, if Dunder Mifflin paper company was still running, if Pam and Jim ever came back to Scranton, and if Kelly and Ryan were ever found after running off together.
Who knows, maybe us loyal office fans will get a reboot, maybe we will get to see where Jim and Pam ended up or if Nellie really raised Ryan’s baby. We won’t know until it happens.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. -Wayne Gretzky” -Michael Scott.
