Music department to host winter concert

By Katie Ritchie
Editor-in-Chief
While most radio stations don’t start playing Christmas music until after Thanksgiving, the choir department has been busy practicing their music for the upcoming winter concert since their fall concert in October.
The winter concert, which will be held this Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. in the Fieldhouse will feature the entire Music Department: band, orchestra, and choir. Each group will play seasonal music, and showcase the some of pieces they have been working on over the past few months.
Some groups will perform Christmas songs, while seniors Chris Yousif and Kelly Ahlman, who are members of the Honors Choir, will be performing a Hebrew piece, “to try to keep it non-denominational.”
Yousif will also be singing as a member of Madrigals, and will be performing a few of the many songs they will perform at their annual Madrigals dinner on Dec. 13.

The concert will crescendo with Music Department’s tradition of a sing along to a compilation of holiday songs featuring all of the music groups as well as the audience.
