The varsity boys’ golf team has continued to build a strong foundation for their 2013 season with a substantial win over Rolling Meadows and Wheeling Monday afternoon at the Mt. Prospect Golf Course. Prospect, with a combined score of 151 after 9 holes, beat Rolling Meadows by 25 shots and Wheeling by a huge margin of 61 shots.
Leading the way for the Knights was senior Josh Johnson, who had an even par of 35. Behind him was senior Ralph Tenuta with a score of 37. Then came junior Grant Gavin with a 39 and senior Reid Dahlstrom rounding out the team with a 40.
While only four golfers can score for Prospect in a meet, Coach Judson feels that this year’s tea
m has lots of depth with multiple players being able to score throughout the season.
“We have a team, they really do play together and they pull for each other,” Judson said.
This was shown on Aug. 25, when the varsity team was split in half; some played in the conference home meet, the other half played at Glenbrook North.
Johnson believes that Prospect faced some of the weaker teams in the conference on Monday, and foresees more competitive meets in the future. Johnson thinks that the the team needs a little more consistency in order to stay on top during their run
for the conference championship.
“We played good today, but we know we can do better.” Tenuta said, “There’s nowhere for us to go but up.”
