Senior Annie Walsh was chosen to be a part of the Daily Herald’s leadership team and was in their newspaper on Thursday, Jan. 18. Being on the leadership team is an award to recognize work students have done in the community.  Walsh was chosen for her role in Prospect’s Allergy Awareness Club, being a teen advisor in for Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) and participating in a local mission trip for her church.
“I was so surprised that I got in it,” Walsh said. “… I was totally positive that I didn’t get in it, but I was so surprised because there are so many students at Prospect who are also worthy of this. I’m just so blessed and honored to be in it.”
The Daily Herald leadership team consists of students in in northwest suburbs of Chicago, and, in order to be apart of the leadership team, a student must fill out an application describing their work in their communities. Associate Principal Greg Minter emailed Walsh about the opportunity, which pushed her to apply.
“It made me feel incredible that [Prospect staff] is recognizing the work that I’ve done and all of the late nights that I have put into it. It was just incredible because I respect all of those staff members like Mr. Minter and my counselor.”
