Kensington Road opens South-bound side streets

By Jack McDermott
Executive Online Editor

In a newly released Resident Information Bulletin regarding the construction on Kensington Road, the Village of Mount Prospect Public Works Department (MPPWD) revealed that the southern side streets from Fairview to Willie Street will be re-opened for through traffic on Friday, August 30.

These exits will become critical because construction on the north side of the street will also begin next Friday, closing down Forest Avenue, Prospect Manor Avenue and Elmhurst Avenue one at a time.  Because of these closures, residents living on the north side of Kensington may lose access to their driveways and will be able to park overnight on nearby streets.

Two-way traffic will continue on Kensington and will most likely continue to get backed up so the MPPWD advises drivers to take detours whenever possible.

Construction remains on schedule and is scheduled to end mid-November.
