Jack Berman commits to Navy football

September 13, 2022

As of recently senior, Jack Berman, announced his commitment to the United States Naval academy on a full ride scholarship for football. Berman took time out of his day to sit down and discuss his recent accomplishment.

Q: Was Navy your first pick for college?

A: No, Navy was not necessarily my first pick for football, I didn’t really have a school I really wanted to go to. I was just keeping an open mind to any school that showed interest in me as a recruit.

Q: How did you feel when you were offered a scholarship from Navy?

A: It was honestly one of the greatest experiences I have ever had, it doesn’t feel real and it’s very rewarding to finally have all your hard work pay off because an offer is an ultimate goal.

Q: Did you always want to be a part of the military {Navy}?

A: I had always had thoughts about joining the military, but never really pursued it. This just happened to be the path I will end up going down.

Q: What goals do you have with your upcoming years at Navy college?

A: A big goal of mine is to obviously get on the field as quickly as possible, but along with that I really want to graduate from the academy at the top of my class in academics.

Q: Are you excited to go? What are you nervous for?

A: I am definitely excited to go. It’s going to be an awesome experience and something not many people get to do, especially playing for such a high level program. Regarding how nervous I am, I definitely have some nerves about adjusting to military life and school in general. It will definitely test my mental toughness and grit to adjust, but I think I will be able to do it.

Q: Who are people you are thankful for that have been supporting you on this journey for your athletic and academic career?

A: I have so much to owe to everyone around me. First off, my family has given me constant support through the ups and downs and really helped me get to this point. Along with that all my coaches have molded me into the player I am today, especially Coach Collier who has done so much for me. Last off, my close friends’  who push me to my full potential, especially my friend Frank Covey who I owe a lot of my success to.
