Halloween Ends, ended in disappointment

Halloween Ends, more like Halloween Sucks. The fact that I spent $20 to watch Michael Myers show up an hour into the movie, and then proceed to get beat up by some 20-year old kid. The fact is, I could go out on Halloween and not be scared because I could take on Michael Myers after that movie.

This movie was the ending to the Michael Myers franchise and the recent trilogy. It was about the effects Michael Myers had on the people of the town Haddonfield, Illinois, and it was supposed to be this big, glamorous showdown between Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michael Myers, played by James Jude Courtney, to end the saga.

The movie felt so rushed. The producers of this movie didn’t do a good job of writing. I thought it was incredibly barebones and it didn’t live up to expectations at all. The final battle scene started and wrapped up in 15 minutes max. I thought they could have taken different angles to this movie to make it more enjoyable. Halloween Kills was way better than this movie and, for reference, I thought that movie was not good either. I thought after Halloween Kills they would have a comeback chance to really make it a great end to the franchise, however, that did not happen.

The dialogue, the plot, and even the horror and gore of the movie was all really bad. When I want to watch a horror movie I want to be at the edge of my seat, not knowing what’s going to happen and to have my heart racing. Everything seemed predictable and I wasn’t at the edge of my seat. It didn’t even feel like I was watching a horror movie, it felt like a romantic, early 2000s high school movie. 

Another thing I didn’t like was how Laurie Strode wasn’t the main character or even the second or third main character! I liked the addition of Corey Cunningham, played by Rohan Campbell, but they could have done so many other things with his character. I didn’t like how they made him seem like he was Michael Myers’ sidekick and then Corey would eventually turn on him and beat him up. 

I get that Michael Myers is now old, but he just seemed weak and not the Michael Myers that I remember. He used to be unstoppable. He would always find a way out. The Michael Myers in Halloween Ends, in my opinion, was a disgrace to the Michael Myers played by Nick Castle in the original 1978 Halloween movie. Once again, the fights between Michael Myers and someone else just seemed very quick and rushed. 

The one thing I did like about the movie is how they portrayed the effects Michael Myers had on the people of Haddonfield. Other than that, I thought this movie didn’t live up to the expectations that it had and didn’t have any thought into it. I could see why people who are die-hard fans of the franchise might’ve liked it, but I thought it didn’t conclude the series well at all.
