"Blown Away" redefines country music

Danielle Church

News Editor

Carrie Underwood released her fourth album “Blown Away” this month.

The album features songs such as her hit single “Good Girl” along with “Good in Goodbye,” “Cupid’s Got a Shotgun,” “Forever Changed,” “Blown Away” and many more amazing songs.

Underwood’s album is one of the best she has come out with. I can say this because she truly has one of the best voices I have ever heard.

Underwood puts her entire heart and soul into her music and you can tell this because not only does her voice sound strong, but it also sounds like she can relate to the story in her songs, such as in “Blown Away.”

Now I’m not always a huge fan of country music, but just listening to the album “Blown Away” blew me away.

It’s nothing like the lovey dovey crap that Taylor Swift sings about.

Swift sings about a guy in every single one of her songs. All it ever sounds like is that her life revolves around him. I mean come on … there are so many other things going on in the world and all she can talk about is one person over and over and over again.

Underwood on the other hand, sings about a variety of topics relating to life.

She does sing about love but it’s not overdone like when Swift writes her songs. For example, in Underwood’s song “Blown Away” she talks about family issues.

In another called “Thank God for Hometowns” she talks about how life can get so hectic, but a person’s community can bring them back to reality and make them relax to think about everything they love in life.

Not only are Underwood’s lyrics inspiring, but they are also, for the most part, pretty upbeat on this album. Her songs will just make you want to get up and dance. That is always one of the most important things to me about music. If the music is just plain boring, it’s not even worth listening to.

So, when you feel like you need something new in your music library, go run on down to Target or buy “Blown Away” on Itunes. You will definitely get your money’s worth.
