Chilled Chia Fresca

By Khrystyna Halatyma
Executive In-Depth Editor|
Chilled Chia Fresca is a healthy super drink. Chia seeds originated in South America and have recently become popular in the United States and can be found at your local Marianos. According to rawreform.com chia seeds,

  • .2 times the protein of any other seed or grain,
  • 5 times the calcium of milk, plus boron which is a trace mineral that
  • helps transfer calcium into your bones,
  • 2 times the amount of potassium as bananas,
  • 3 times the reported antioxidant strength of blueberries
  • 3 times more iron than spinach
  • copious amounts of omega 3 and omega 6

Point is, they’re good for you, and with this super simple drink recipe, you can be healthy and happy. I recommend using a closed container since the end result doesn’t look appetizing.
First add half a teaspoon of chia seeds to your preferably closed container. Half a teaspoon because chia seeds contain a lot of fiber and different organisms take it in differently. Next add lemon or lime depending on your taste preferences along with a teaspoon of sugar. Top it all off with, surprise, surprise, water. A last option is to add mint for garnish.
Try it and enjoy!
