Prospect girls’ swim and dive team had a successful season last year winning the MSL East and beating their rival, Hersey, who had won the title for the past six years.
With most of the varsity team returning this year, the Knights are hoping to win the title again.
According to head coach Alfonso Lopez, the team is going to rely mainly on seniors Ellie McGough, Niki Neumann, Rachel Rozow, Michelle Vuong and juniors Abby Younger and Betsy Rozow.
Both Lopez and Neumann have the goal of winning the MSL East along with the team goal of qualifying more individuals and relays to state. For the past three years, senior Dana Liva has made it to state for diving, but the team is looking to qualify more swimmers.
Lopez believes that achieving these goals has a lot to do with what the swimmers do in the off season, and how they set themselves up.
“On the first day everyone was working really hard and I think as long as we continue to do that, then we’ll succeed in our goals,” Neumann said.
