On Friday Feb. 25, Illinois representative Jan Schakowsky came to Prospect to speak about current issues, and answer questions from Prospect students. Schakowsky also spoke about feminism, and her experience as being a woman in her position.
This was the first time Schakowsky came to Prospect. Schakowsky looked forward to speaking to a high school aged audience,
“They are the future,” Schakowsky said, “Who are going to be our leaders?”
Schakowsky hopes to inspire teenagers, and spark an interest in politics. They should care because it is their future, according to Schakowsky.
“It’s so intimate, the things that we decide that affect [teenagers],” Said Schakowsky.
