Show choir works hard for end of year show

Show+choir+works+hard+for+end+of+year+show

After Prospect High School Mixed Company placed 4th on the Decatur Premier Choice Show Choir Invitational and Company placing 3rd on Brodhead in The Spotlight, they will be closing off the year with their End-of-the-Year show.
Show Choir and Mixed Company have been practicing six hours a week in order to get ready for their show.  Practice is usually twice a week for each group from 6:00 to 8:45 p.m. but now it’s after school from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m.
This year’s show has been the most stressful for all the performers because it’s earlier than usual.
“We just came off of musical and we don’t practice for those two weeks,” said Jennifer Troiano the show choir instructor. “So we’re kind of digging out of the grave and trying to dust it off and get it ready.  Normally that extra week would have been helpful.”
Junior Caroline Sandberg also agrees this year has been more stressful than usual.
“Memorizing dances has been difficult… it’s been difficult with the musical ending and this just beginning on Monday but everyone’s trying to do their best and trying to inspire the audience,” said Sandberg.
This year’s show will consist of performances that Company has previously performed and a few new songs.  Additionally, they will performing their competition show and honoring their seniors.
“It’s just a celebration of everything we done all year,” says Troiano.
Troiano is very excited for the audience to see the alumni song. The alumni song is “Breakaway” and it consist of any girl who’s in mixed company, company, or graduated and they come back on stage to sing.
Additionally, she is excited for everyone to see Mixed Company perform “Dream” in which past alumni also come back on stage.
“It’s always fun to see the alumni come back and stand on stage and get to sing with us again,” said Troiano.
The End-of-the-Year show will occur May 11 through the 12 at 7:00-9:00 p.m.
