For so many people, Disney holds a special place in their hearts. Whether or not people agree or disagree with the messages in Disney films, most children grow up seeing at least some if not most of the Disney animated films.
1951’s “Alice in Wonderland” is no exception.
Since Disney adapted Lewis Carrol’s novels “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865) and “Through the Looking-Glass” (1871) into a full-feature animated film, Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat have become household names when discussing classic children’s films.
And now, 59 years later, Disney is going back down the rabbit hole with director Tim Burton to continue Alice’s story in Wonderland.
The film will be released on Friday, March 5, in both Disney and IMAX 3D.
The Johnny Depp- and Mia Wasikowska-starred picture follows a 19-year-old Alice as she finds herself back in Wonderland, the land from her childhood that she no longer remembers. When there, she is bound to protect it from the Red Queen as she attempts to take control of all of Wonderland.
Prospector staff writers Jane Berry and Whitney Kiepura will be reviewing “Alice” after its opening weekend to decide whether the trip back to Wonderland really IS a “very important date.”
