After months of the Mount Prospect community supporting and voting for “American Idol” contestant and former Prospect student Lee DeWyze, the show’s ninth season has finally come to an end — and with a happy ending.
DeWyze was officially announced America’s American Idol on Wednesday, May 26 at just past 9 p.m., pulling through with a victory over runner-up Crystal Bowersox, who also auditioned in Chicago with DeWyze last August.
To see an in-depth look at the community’s support of DeWyze and a reprinting of a 2008 story about DeWyze’s early career, see the next issue of the Prospector on Tuesday, June 1.
