After sacking the New Trier quarterback three times during the last football game on Sep. 13, senior Declan Lawlor won the Hubby’s Dog House Dog of the Game. This wasn’t just any player of the game award; whoever wins this honor is awarded with their very own hot dog named after them for a limited time. Lawlor, as a hot dog enthusiast, was very excited when he won the award.
“It was pretty cool for me personally because I have always loved hot dogs my whole life, so when I heard about it, it was a pretty cool experience,” Lawlor said.
This tradition was started last year when Hubby’s gave the Dog of the Game to former Prospect defensive lineman Crash Davis. While the Crash Dog was a bacon cheddar char dog, Lawlor went the more classic route when he decided on the Chicago style dog. However, this Chicago style dog wasn’t alone, it was also joined by a side of milk. Milk with a hot dog might sound a bit unusual, but he has always liked drinking milk his whole life, so it made perfect sense for the De-Law Dog.
“It’s pretty funny actually, well, some of my friends were [talking about how] I drink a lot of milk,” Lawlor said.
