What sports are you involved in?

“I’m involved in track and volleyball at Prospect.”

How long have you played volleyball?

“I’ve played volleyball since I was in seventh grade. So I joined the [middle school] volleyball team in seventh grade. I did Park District in seventh and eighth grade. And then I tried a new club. I went to MOD for a little bit, and then I stopped doing club because it was too much with volleyball and track at the same time.”

What do you love most about volleyball?

“I love that volleyball is more of a team sport [and] not very individual. And I love how I can rely on my teammates when I need them and they’re just very uplifting.”

Is there a certain teammate or coach who inspires you?

“My coach from last year, Weiler, really influenced my love for the sport … I love the way he coaches and he makes volleyball fun.”

What is it like being a first year varsity player?

“It’s definitely really scary at first, because, you know, I haven’t been on that level before, but it’s definitely gotten easier … with the help of my teammates and my coaches. Because there’s also a lot of people on varsity this year who have never been on varsity before.”

What have you done to overcome your injury?

“I sprained my ankle … close to the beginning of the season, and it was definitely annoying. And it kind of aggravated me because … I couldn’t play for four weeks. But I feel like something that helped me was knowing that I still have another year of volleyball.”
