PSA: Carti will NOT drop tomorrow

Much like his wife and child, the world has an abusive relationship with rapper Playboi Carti. Song leaks and album teases have led all fans of his music, both on the madness-ridden r/playboicarti subreddit and not, to go insane for the past four years.

”I AM MUSIC” is just not happening and we all know it. Well, that was until just a few days ago when Carti actually decided to advertise the album, partnering with Spotify to release a teaser online, some billboards found in cities and only one word on his most recent Twitter post: “FRIDAY.”

See, as a journalist, this is usually the part where I take you through the history of all the times we thought Carti was going to drop, from when the album was supposed to drop last year, to another release date it had this month, to people having their pre-orders of the box sets of the album being cancelled because, y’know, it doesn’t exist. Not to mention the four year period of straight misery with all the news revealing that Carti is, in fact, a terrible human being, the stupid as hell fit pics on Instagram that were literally only made fun of (seriously though, why did he have a poop stain on his armpit?) and the new weekly conspiracy from someone online who promised that the album just had to drop this week.

That’s what I would do as a journalist, but as a fan I’m just so tired. Like, are these the most concrete pieces of evidence yet? Yeah. But will the album actually come out tomorrow? Hell no!!!

But there’s really no point to explaining why I believe that, even if it’s literally just because I think Carti likes seeing everyone get their hopes up just to crush them like he did when he skipped the birth of his child to play PlayStation with Lil Uzi Vert (which, to be honest, is probably the most valid reason, but still).

So if you’re reading this after already having listened to the new album and think this is the most poorly-aged story ever, I want you to know that I’m actually jumping in joy, skipping school and buying Spotify premium for a month just to listen to it over and over again.

But if you’re reading this in the sad, sad reality where we didn’t get the album, just know that I told you so. Oh, and I probably still skipped school to cry all day. To be honest, I’m just looking for an excuse not to go.

Or… wait, did we even consider that it could be buns?

Only time will tell.
