Laura Arroyo, new administrative assistant to the principal of instruction
Q: Where did you work before Prospect?
A: “I used to work at Noble Charter Schools, initially I worked at Muchin College Prep downtown and then I transferred to Noble Street in Wicker Park.”
Q: What is your role at Prospect?
A: “I am an admin assistant to the principal of instruction … before at the Noble Charter schools I was … mainly operations and finance.”
Q: Where did you go to high school?
A: “I went to Lakeview High School.”
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: “I attended Harold and NEIU.”
Q: What did you major in and why?
A: “Early childhood education, I love kids, I think that my personality allows me to love that field. I did it in my early 20s, I was a preschool teacher for five years and then I was getting older and I realized that emotionally, it’s draining.”
Q: What’s your favorite part about your job?
A: “It’s interesting, I think every day is different. Every day things change and I’m learning. I love the school in general, I love the parents that I work with and I love the substitutes that come in. Every day I meet someone new”
Q: What was your first impression of Prospect when you started working here?
A: “I’ve never seen High School Musical, but this would be it. It seemed like that actual movie, it’s big, it’s beautiful. It’s very inviting and it’s very different from the schools that I worked at before.”
Q: What is your favorite part about Prospect?
A: “I think that you all love activities, you all love to get involved and love the community aspect of [the school].”
Q: What do you hope to do in the future?
A: “I haven’t asked myself that question yet this year because I haven’t had a moment of time to just say ‘okay what do I want to do’, but I love it here and I see myself growing.”
