Q: Where did you go to high school and college?
A: I went to Prospect High School, class of 2015, and I went to North Central College, class of 2024.
Q: What did you major in at North Central?
A: I majored in biology with supplementary secondary education.
Q: How’d you get into Science?
A: So here at prospect, I really enjoyed my science classes and I really enjoyed my history classes. So going to college, I just kind of thought back on all the different classes that I’ve had, what I kind of want to do, what I like about school. Science and history were the two things that really kind of kept popping up in my head. At the end of the day, I just kind of lean science a little bit more. I like animals and nature and things like that, so as far as science goes, I’m big in, like, get outside, look at animals, stuff like that. I enjoy the lab stuff, but I’m more of an environmental type of person.
Q: Is this your first job in education?
A: It is not. This is my second job, I worked at Plano High School in Plano, Illinois.
Q: Why did you decide to come teach at Prospect?
A: A lot closer to home, obviously. I mean this place is where I got, you know, kind of my start, where I kind of really felt like, you know, home. It’s a community that really helped shape me and become who I am, and my goal is to give back to, you know, that same community that helped turn me into the person I am today, that really helped me in my formative years. So my goal is kind of to give back to that community and then be that person that I had, 11, 12, 13 years ago.
Q: What are you most excited about this school year?
A: It’s hard not to say football and wrestling season. Coaching both those, it’s always exciting. But also just being a part of the community overall.
Q: What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of school?
A: Ji Jitsu. fishing. That’s most of them. I recently picked up golf, not very good at it, but fishing and jiu jitsu are probably one and two, and everything else is kind of far away.
Q: What was your first impression of the new Prospect when you came back?
A: It was like seeing, like a friend or family member you haven’t seen in years, and it’s like, they’re different, but it’s still the same thing. So, like, the walls were painted different. There’s a giant pool attached to the side of the building, but, like, walking in it’s still the same hallways. It’s still the same feel. A lot of the same faces, a lot of same people. So it was different, but it was also very much the same. It’s exciting to be back.
