Boys' soccer moves past Mustangs

After the first half Saturday the Prospect Knights and Mundelein Mustangs held each other to a scoreless game. Both teams put up a tough defensive game.
“(Mundelein) did not really get much of a sniff at the goal,”said head coach Kurt Trenkle “That’s one of the things that makes me happy because that is one of our question marks this year.”
During the ten minute break at half the Knights were able to hydrate and reenergize for another forty minutes of play in ninth degree heat.
With just over 16 minutes left in the second half senior Patryk Ruta scored with an assist from senior Bill Cooney. Their momentum picked up in the last 15 minutes of play as the boys felt more relaxed with one goal up on Mundelein.
Towards the final few minutes of the game Mundelein sustained two injuries and it stopped the clock and the Knight’s momentum. The Knights were able to hold the Mustangs to zero for the rest of the game and they were able to defeat the Mustangs 1-0.
