Haven't asked someone to hc yet? We're here to help

By Kiley Walsh

Tacky dresses, classic bow ties, and a whole week of events meant to make students look ridiculous and feel school spirit can only mean one thing.  Homecoming.
From kings and queens to embarrassing karaoke at lunch, my all time favorite thing about homecoming is the creative ways to ask someone to the dance.
And whether or not you’ll admit it, it’s impossible not smile when you hear someone get asked over the announcements.
But personally, I’m a big fan of the sparkly posters and extravagant, creative ideas to ask someone, especially out of surprise.
And yes, high school is hard enough without having to ask someone to a dance with any potential to get rejected.  But even if that’s the case, asking someone to a dance is supposed to be fun.  Making it unique and special could be something she’ll remember for the rest of her life.
Here is a list of my top five favorite ways to ask someone to a dance:
5.  The T-shirt
·         On the front of a tee shirt you ask her if she’ll go with you.
·         On the back, you write, “Wash this shirt to find out who it’s from!”
·         Write the names of different people in washable marker and then your own name in permanent marker
·         Once washed, your name will be the only one left

4.  The Puzzle
·         Create a cute and colorful invitation to the dance with construction paper
·         Cut it up into five to ten pieces
·         Put them around your school or her house with a clue sheet identifying where each piece is hidden
·         The last clue is to put the puzzle together and then see the invitation
3.  H.O.M.E.C.O.M.I.N.G.
·         Get ten of your or her closest friends
·         Have each of them write a different letter of H.O.M.E.C.O.M.I.N.G. on a shirt
·         Line them all up outside her house and call her to come outside
2. Hidden Cookies
·         Bake cookies
·         On a paper plate, write your invitation
·         Put the cookies on top of the plate
Leave a note saying she’ll have to eat the cookies to see the secret
1.       What’s your fortune?
Believe it or not, you can actually customize a fortune cookie.  So if you really like a girl or want to impress her, give her a cookie with a personalized message as her lucky fortune.
