Softball heads to Maine West for doubleheader

By Ryan Molini
Sports Editor
The past week full of rain and storms has led to a week of indoor practices for the varsity softball team. However they look to continue their 2-1 record this Saturday, 11 April, as they travel to Maine West high school for a doubleheader.
According to head coach Jim Adair, freshman Alyssa Cacini will be pitching the first game while junior Delilah Malczewski will start on the mound for the Knights during the second game.
Adair feels doubleheaders are tough yet important, due the lengthened games and the time in between the games too.
“You want to win every game,” Adair said. “They’re all important and it has a big impact on your seeding [for sectionals].”
Senior first baseman Casey Lenski has been stepping up at the plate big lately and looks to continue her ways against the Warriors of Maine West.
The scouting report Adair has set up for the team reveals some returning players and a decent pitcher for them to face in their first game.
“They [also] have a couple few seniors that can hit the ball,” Adair said. “They’re pretty well coached [too].”
Adair and the Knights look to redeem both of last years doubleheader losses to Maine West as they dropped the first game 10-8 and the second 3-1.
