As Prospect wins Regionals for the sixth time in the past seven years, they finish with nine Sectional qualifiers including Will Baysinger, Marcus Santos, Lennon Steinkuehler, Damien Puma, Jack Milos, Joey Miller, Christopher Denardis and Caleb Smith.
Prospect scored 201 team points as they cruised through another Regional.
At Sectionals, Prospect had an outstanding day with five State qualifiers: Will Baysinger, Jack Milos, Damien Puma, Joey Miller and Caleb Smith.
Prospect still has two undefeated wrestlers with Milos and Baysinger. Both wrestlers have wrestled at nationals, for their club team, before, but they both look to take home state championships.
Baysinger and Puma are both freshman that are going to state in their first high school season. This is something that not a lot of schools get, especially a freshman that has a chance to win state.
Baysinger has already been noticed by people all around the suburbs especially on twitter. Pioneer Press Sports has already recognized him as a very decorated wrestler.
Baysinger already beat the previous number one ranked wrestler in the state at an earlier tournament with a score of 2-1, so he has some experience against top-tier wrestlers like those he will see at State.
Baysinger and Milos both look to extend their undefeated season as all five Prospect wrestlers go down to Champaign, Illinois for the individual state championship.
As for the team, they still have team sectionals, and hopefully for them, an opportunity to go to State as a team.
