Previewing the Staff Showdown

By Neel Thakkar
Editor-in-Chief
Outside of the NBA, few people would pay for the privilege of watching a group of grown men play basketball.

Last year, though, about 1000 people did just that, as the Prospect and Rolling Meadows staff teams played a game of basketball in the Prospect field house, with Meadows winning by three.  The event raised over $5000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the foundation selected by JKB, which organized it.

Fast-forward to this year.  The game, which social science teacher Jay Heilman hopes to make an annual event, is to be held at Rolling Meadows this Saturday at 7 p.m. Besides the game itself, there will be ice cream available at halftime, a dance afterward, and a raffle with prizes ranging from White Sox tickets to movie theater gift cards.
Throughout the week, students could buy a shirt, a ticket to the game, and a raffle ticket for $10.  Tickets will also be available at the door for $5, and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
