Track: Around The World
Artist: Vers’
Genre: Rap/Hip-Hop
Release Date: January 31st, 2012
You haven’t heard of him yet, but soon he’ll be the only thing you’re talking about.
Jordan Sierra, a.k.a. Vers’ (vǝr-sǝs), is a new, up and coming rapper from Miami, Florida. At only 18 years young, he has released his debut album, “Who Is Vers’?”, in Dec. 2010 and his first mixtape, “Fitted Caps and Some Cargos”, in Nov. 2010 (download link at the bottom of the story).
Moreover, he has even had over 1.5 million views on videos on both YouTube.and WorldStarHipHop.com. All of that combined has earned him 20 YouTube honors in a two-week time span.
When the “Around The World” music video was released, the news blew up on his Twitter and Facebook pages. To me, one of his obsessive teenage fans who watched the video at exactly five p.m. (the time it was uploaded to YouTube), it was a dream come true.
Why do I love him so much? Well, it’s probably because of how adorable he is. Other than that, his rapping can easily be compared to Drake’s. He has deep, sentimental moments in a few of his songs that just make you want to know more about him. For example in “Far Away” on his mixtape, there are a few lines that describe his relationship with his mom: “I know I ain’t around but my ma tryin’ to make it, who tryin’ to make a better life for us, just don’t hate me. Remember everytime I tried to skip school, I’m gonna pay you back for everything I put you through.”
Not just that, the way he remixes some of his songs on his mixtape is ridiculous. If you listen to his mixtape in the specific order he puts the songs in, every song flows into the next one because the melody and beats from the previous song will flow into each other, making it feel like the mixtape is just one really long song.
So if you’re looking for a new track this week, check out “Around The World”.
