Since finishing sixth at the state tournament in 2003, the girls’ golf team has never had the chance to try and do it again. Every year since, the team has been shut out of the state meet by the North Shore powers, along with schools like Barrington and St. Viator, that are invariably in their sectional tournaments.
This year, unfortunately, followed the same pattern. After their sectional tournament at Buffalo Grove on Monday, the girls’ golf team will again have to be content with sending a lone representative—senior Ellie Tixier—to the state tournament, which features 10 teams, as they have done for each of the past six years.
Tixier, who shot an 81, captured an at-large berth—one of eight awarded to individuals whose teams don’t qualify – to make it to the state tournament.
“I went into it hoping for the best,” she said. “I was really happy [with] how I played.”
As a team, the Knights shot a score of 345, finishing fourth behind a group of the aforementioned heavyweights – New Trier, Loyola and St. Viator, in that order.
Behind Tixier, sophomore Christine Garmoe shot an 87, followed by sophomore Allison Walsh, who had an 88. Senior Terese Geraghty was fourth on the team with an 89, and senior Karly Grouwinkel and junior Rachel Lawless shot 91 and 92, respectively.
“We were really hoping [to go to state as a team],” Tixier said. “[We] definitely had the potential.”
“All we had to do was play [well],” Geraghty said, “but it just didn’t happen.”

Hi. I see that you don’t update your blog too often. I know that writing content is boring and time consuming.
But did you know that there is a tool that allows you to create new articles
using existing content (from article directories or other websites from your niche)?
And it does it very well. The new posts are unique and pass the copyscape test.
