Girls' water polo makes a splash

The girls’ water polo team has started their season off on a good note this year. They are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the MSL East. They beat Schaumburg 14-11, Hersey 9-7, and Rolling Meadows 15-6.  Their two losses came against New Trier and Wheeling.  They lost 17-9 and 11-8.

A big reason for the Knights’ success so far this year is junior Meg Dix. In the first five games, Dix scored 32 of the Knights 55 goals.
Despite the girl’s good start this year, there are still things that they need to focus on and “perfect,” according to Dix.

“We can always get better and perfect our individual skills,” Dix said. “But as a team there are things offensively and defensively that still need work. On offense, we have to move the ball around better. On defense, we need to communicate better and make sure we don’t leave people open.”

The girls came up with lots of goals that they want to accomplish this season. The two biggest ones were to win the MSL East and win conference.
“In order for use to achieve our goals, we have to continue to work together,” Dix said. “We need to work hard at practice every day and keep communicating. Those are the two biggest things for us. If we do that we will be a good team and have a good year.”
