Prospect picked up a number of titles on its way to winning their 14th consecutive MSL East Championship on April 16 at George Gattas Memorial Stadium.
The Knights scored a combined 402 points between varsity and freshman/sophomore, way ahead of Hersey (293.5 points), Wheeling (138), Rolling Meadows (118.5), Buffalo Grove (71), and Elk Grove (50).
Prospect’s sophomore Kyle Struzik who finished second in the 400m with a time 55.03 expressed what it means for him to contribute at the championship phase of the season.
“It’s such an amazing program being a sophomore and being able to be a part of something, being able to live my dream,” Struzik said.
Struzik who also competed in the freshman/sophomore 4×400 relay with a score of 3.25 and got first was a huge piece of that win having a new split of 57 seconds.
“I had big expectations and still do and I want to cement myself,” Struzik said.
The Knights also took first place in the 4×200 relay while scoring points in the 17 out of 18 events they competed in.
Senior team captain Jaylen Calhoun had himself a solid meet running 23.50 in the 200 meter and high jumping a season best 1.83 meters.
Prospect’s throws nation team captain Aaron Murray led discus with 35.90m.
Most of the scoring for the Knights came from the underclassmen. There are a lot of opportunities that will provide a big advantage for future meets.

“They are so good, the future of this team is in good hands.”
With the team having a lot of seniors there is a big opportunity now and in the future.
“I’m excited about next year,” Struzik said. “We have to finish strong this year and the ultimate goal is to win the state.”
The Knights next big meet for the postseason will be the Mid Suburban League championship at Fremd High school on May 5.
