“We made it to sectionals,” senior Matt Maloney said. “We got out.”
Although the team finished behind St. Viator’s impressive score of 297, the Knights were only two strokes behind host school Fremd’s final tally of 324.
Leading the pack was junior Jimi Poulos with a score of 78. Close behind was junior Cael Kiess, shooting an 80. Maloney and senior Mike Sokolik followed with scores of 83 and 85, respectively.
Coming off an undefeated season of 11-0, the boys’ golf team switched places with Fremd in the regionals meet: Prospect beat Fremd earlier in the season by two strokes.
According to Maloney, the teams to beat at sectionals are New Trier, Glenbrook South, St. Viator and Fremd.
“[Sectionals] will be fun,” Maloney said, “but a lot of good teams [made it there]. It’s going to be a challenge.”

The golf team had high hopes for this year and the 11-0 record just added to the fuel. Regionals was a wake up call because we couldn’t just play average if we wanted a chance at state. Luckily we made it out but failed to get to state today by three strokes. It’s a heartbreaker but bottomline is we’re going to come back next year ready to give it another shot.

The golf team had a great year. In a word it was unreal. One of the best golf teams prospect will have in a long time. It really shows how far the program has come going to sectionals 8 years in a row.
