The afternoon sun was coming down upon Juniors Bianca Walker and Colleen Shute as they lined up to race across the inflatable course positioned in front of them. As the two raced through the course, Shute began to gain a lead as Walker tried to catch up. Ultimately, Walker came out in front of her friend and the two were quick to start laughing about the race.
“My goal was to just not slip and eat it,” said Shute.
This fun competition between friends was just a small part of the Prospect Carnival on Friday, May 17th. The carnival put together by ASB was held on the front lawn off of Kensington Road, and went from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
The carnival included many of the traditional aspects that students are likely familiar with: a fun swing ride, a bungee with a trampoline, a rock climbing wall, games like ‘Slap Shot’, face painting and of course a cotton candy machine. However, there were some unique things that ASB brought to Prospect: Kona Ice, live student bands, inflatable-based ‘Twister’ and outdoor games like badminton.

Walker was helping out at the swing ride for part of the carnival, which Shute was at the trampoline area.
“It was really cool to see people come up and talk about what they’ve been doing,” said Walker.
The two agreed that the carnival is something that they hope will return next year. They agreed that, while there was a lot of effort to get the carnival to the way it looks on Friday, the event is a great way to see Prospect students interacting with one another.
“I just like seeing my friends [having fun] and everyone just seems relaxed and happy,” said Shute.
