Girls' bowling rolls to state

By Alyssa Zediker
Staff Writer

By finishing second at sectionals on Feb. 5, girl’s bowling qualified as a team to head to Rockford for State Finals. The girls racked up a score of 5871 just behind the 5899 score of Hoffman Estates.
It is the first time since 2005 that the varsity team is going all together (see below for team list), because over the past few years they have only had individuals qualify for state. Head coach Greg Troyer attributes the team’s success to the athletic ability of the girls and the level of competiveness, but also because the girls are a close knit group of friends.
For Troyer the nerves subsided after sectionals, but now looking towards finals he says this weekend should just be fun.
Troyer believes the girls can make the first cut from 24 state qualifiers to twelve, but he has set the goal to make
it to the top six.
Although Troyer gave his word to the girls, that he would get them a limo ride home if they place in the top three and bring home a trophy.
While not on the radar to win the state championship, Troyer feels that they can do some outstanding things this weekend, so look for results early next week here at prospectnow.com
