Senior Amy Xu reaches out as she performs her poetry piece for her event Poetry Reading (POE).

Xu continues to perform her poetry piece entitled “Unveiled Voices: A Program.” The piece is a mix of several poems.

Xu shows emotion as she performs her piece. She placed 1st at the sectional competition at Downers Grove South High School on Feb. 15 and placed 7th in the state competition.

Seniors James Galanis and Claire Wynkoop perform for their event, Dramatic Duet Acting (DDA). They placed 3rd at the sectional competition and 2nd in the state competition.

Wynkoop reacts to having a misscarriage in her DDA piece entitled “Lungs” by Ducan McMillan.

Junior Dylan Maye performs his piece entitled “How To Talk To a Widower” by Jonathan Tropper for his event Prose Reading (PRO). Maye placed 3rd at the sectional competition and 4th in the state competition.

Junior Chiara Stathakis performs her piece for her event Extemporaneous Speaking (EXP). This is a “limited prep” event, which means the speakers have a short amount of time to prepare the speech at the tournament then perform it. Stathakis placed 1st at the sectional competition and 5th in the state competition.

Senior Sydney Strimling performs her piece for her event Radio Speaking (RS). This is also a “limited prep” event. Strimling placed 3rd at the sectional competition and 4th in the state competition.

Wynkoop performs her piece for her other event Impromptu Speaking (IMP). This is also a “limited prep” event. Wynkoop placed 2nd at the sectional competition.

Maye performs his piece entitled “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathon Safron Foer for his other event Dramatic Interpretation (DI). Maye placed 1st in the sectional competition and 2nd in the state competition.
