It was a heart-felt night at Jean Walker Tuesday as the girl’s basketball program honored their four seniors. This would be the one of the last games that Katie Olson, Hannah Grott, Catherine Sherwood and Taylor Will would play at Prospect.
“We’re all best friends,” Sherwood said. “Not just the seniors, but the whole team. We all get along very well. It was a very emotional night for us.”
After the tears were wiped and the hugs were exchanged before the game, the Lady Knights got right down to business. Hard-nosed defense and getting up and down in transition helped defeat the Elk Grove Grenadiers 55-27.
“We really want to get our points off of fast-breaks,” said Sherwood who had 21 points. “I got up and really ran a lot today.”
Taylor chipped in 11 points while her sophomore sister Haley dropped 10 points.
According to Sherwood this win provides big momentum for their Saturday game against Hersey.
“This is a big win,” Sherwood. “We wanted to make a statement going into Hersey because that’s one of the biggest games of the year.”
