On February 17, Junior Zoe Black recently broke the all time school record for three-pointers during a girls’ basketball game at Prospect. She shot 77 three-pointers in counting. Black answered a Q and A about her record.
Q: How did you feel when you first broke the record for three pointers?
A: I was very excited. I didn’t know really right away. I knew I was really close. But I didn’t know right away. I was told after the game that it actually happened, we celebrated for a minute in the locker room. It was very exciting.
Q: What did that celebration look like in the locker room?
A: We just were going over what we did well in the game. We had a great game as a team and Weber just said “and Zoe broke the record”. And everybody just had a moment, just like to clap it up and clap it up for our game.
Q: What was going through your head when your coach said you broke the record?
A: I was really excited, and really proud because I put a lot of work in.
Q: How has your support you get to this point in your basketball career
A: They help get the ball to me and they believe in me. I couldn’t have broken the record without them because they contributed to it as much as I did.
Q: What did your coach say to you after the game?
A: He just said “congrats this is big”. It was very brief but it still means a lot.
Q: Do you have any other goals for yourself in your basketball career after breaking this record?
A: I just want to try to break it again next year. I think breaking my own record would be a good goal for me.
Q: If you could give any advice to someone who wants to break records and wants to succeed in a basketball or sports career, what would it be?
A: Work really hard every single day. The coaches are always watching even when you think they’re not. And always have a good attitude.
