The Prospect offense may have finally met its match. Coming into the game, the Knights were averaging 40 points per game, with their lowest scoring night being 28 points. Against Rolling Meadows, it took Prospect until the third quarter to get on the board, and the Knights finished with just 14 points. 
The Prospect offense appeared to have a tough time getting into a rhythm. 
“We just have to get back to doing what we do and being confident. When we play confident we’re a dangerous team and it just seemed like we could never quite get clicked in today,” Head Coach Dan Deboeuf said. 
The Knights were able to match the Mustangs after the first quarter, but just couldn’t recover after going down 21-0 to start the game. The Rolling Meadows defense made their presence known early when an interception on Prospect’s first drive gave them the ball at the Prospect 20. After a 4-yard touchdown pass to Chris Divito, it was 7-0 after less than three minutes.
After another touchdown pass from Carson Schiller, who finished 15-20 for 141 yards, and a 1-yard touchdown run by Charlie Schmidt the game was quickly 21-0. 
“High school football is a momentum game, we saw that last week too. Our biggest thing is we have to figure out how to compete when things don’t go our way,” Deboeuf said. 
Prospect’s defense did their best to keep the team in the game, blanking the Mustangs offense in the second quarter. After another strong defensive stand, Prospect had the ball at the 42 with under two minutes left. The Knights drove it all the way down to the seven-yard line, but time expired as their last play off the half fell incomplete. 
Any momentum that Prospect may have gotten back in the second quarter was quickly erased by Nife Oseni, who broke out of a scrum of players and ran 72 yards for a touchdown that gave Rolling Meadows a 28-0 lead on their first drive of the second half. 
Midway through the quarter, Gary Moeller connected with Noax Marx for a 43-yard touchdown that put Prospect on the board. Moeller finished 22 of 42 for 217 yards.  
A rushing touchdown from the Mustangs and a 20-yard touchdown pass from Moeller to Tyson Splinter finished the scoring for the night, and the game ended 35-14.
This was the second straight week that Prospect played an undefeated opponent, a testament to the strength of the Mid-Suburban League East.
The Knights are now 5-2, and will play Buffalo Grove (3-4) at home next week.
