The boys wrestling team is off to a hot start, as expected. The team placed fourth at state last year and has returned with “the deepest team” they’ve had under head coach John Joseph.

The boys are 9-0 looking at a head to head match with Wheeling on Friday, and the annual Mudge/McMarrow tournament held at Prospect. As for the team’s performance this weekend, Joseph anticipates the success train to keep on rolling.

“I expect us to step on the mat and do what we are supposed to,” Joseph said. “This is probably one of our best teams in a few years and we definitely need to step up to the challenge.”

Throughout the week the Knights have continued to wrestle in practice and have been focusing on paying attention to detail on the “minor points” to clean up some of their mistakes all while trying to keep the pressure of success off of them.

“You know, we talk about if every day in practice, we are the ones with the target on our backs. We finished as one of the best teams in state last year and everyone is trying to knock us off,” Joseph said.
