Girls' volleyball season ends at regionals

By Riley Simpson
Sports Editor
The girls’ volleyball team endured a tough loss to the Waukegan Bulldogs in regionals Thursday evening, knocking the Lady Knights out of the running for sectionals and state.
The team lost the first game, mustering only ten points to their opponent’s 25.  According to junior Sarah Hunt, the team came out stronger for the second game. Unfortunately, they also lost the second game 25-18.
Senior Rachel Hunt said that the team came into the second game with a much more positive attitude, making sure that they focused on their gameplay instead of fearing what Bulldogs were going to throw at them.
Over the course of the season, the team’s highlights included placing second in conference behind Hersey, and winning their last invitational at Buffalo Grove.
“[We] competed very well and we really held our own throughout the season,” Rachel said.
Rachel believes that the team’s offense improved over the course of the season because they worked on connecting more on plays with passing and setting.
On Thursday, however, she said that the offense did as well as it could on any day, but that it wasn’t enough to stop the Bulldog offensive.
“Overall, we were pretty happy,” Sarah said, “but it’s just sad to see it end like this.”
