A new Polish restaurant is coming to Mount Prospect — called “Gilded Fork,” it will offer authentic Polish cuisine and will open in 2026.
The restaurant’s Polish immigrant owners, Krystyna and Sandra, described the restaurant’s unique dining experience. “We are pushing to have the best quality, the nicest dining area, and now we also have good, handcrafted cocktails,” Krystyna said.
The inspiration for the new venture came from a desire to have an authentic, handcrafted taste of Europe in Mount Prospect.
The restaurant will occupy the 1716 E. Kensington Road storefront “Salerno’s” occupied prior to the pizzeria’s downtown Mount Prospect relocation. The business partners spoke to the restaurant’s non-central location:
“If you want to have something nice, you probably have to go to the downtown, which might take a little bit,” Sandra said.
At the January 20 Committee of the Whole Village Board Meeting, Trustee William Grossi suggested that a high concentration of Polish residents surrounding the restaurant will be a key factor in the establishment’s future success.
“We decided to open something that we are missing here. We were looking for a long time, and we decided that Mount Prospect will be that place [for the restaurant],” Krystyna said.
