On Tuesday night the boys varsity soccer team played the Barrington Broncos at home. The bleachers were filled with parents from both schools. Some players from the junior varsity team came to watch the game along with a small group of other students.

15 minutes into the first half, the Broncos scored the first goal of the game. The rest of the half had little action.

“We really didn’t exicute well in our first half,” said Coach Trenkle.”We didn’t comunicate so we always seemed to be under pressure or making mistakes with the ball.”

During half time poms preformed for the crowd.

Three minutes into the second half Junior Alex Whiteman gets injured. Prospect picked it up and got the ball into Barrington’s goal, but the goal was disallowed due to off-sides. This call got the parents fired up there was a lot of disagreement from the bleachers.

With 21 minutes left Barrington scored again, making the score 0-2. The Broncos came back and tried for a third goal but Senior goalie Jack Cooney made a diving catch to save the ball.

At the end of the game Junior Christian Osario scored for the Knights, but it wasn’t enough to pull out with a win. The ending score was 1-2, a victory for the Barrinton Broncos.

“In the second half I thought we made really good adjustments where we were playing and connecting passes together,” said Trenkle. “We were attacking and putting pressure on.”

In the Knights’ last two games they played a poor first half, but a strong second half.

“We need to play more as a team and talk more positivly to each other.” Junior Dominic Taldone said.
