Prospect baseball played a double header against Glenbrook North and Lake Park on March 31.

The final score of the Glenbrook North game was 11-1 with hits from Michael Smith, Grant Miller and Grant Gerdes.  Early hits allowed Prospect to get into Glenbrook North’s bullpen early.

Jordan Fedro pitched the first three innings and did not give up any runs. The game ended in the 6th inning on a slaughter rule.

During the Lake Park game, Lake Park pitched one of their best pitchers and the game quickly became a pitchers duel.  Prospect pitching senior Nick Rodriguez innings one through three, senior Jon Loving pitched the 4th inning and a third of the 5th inning, and junior Justin Placko pitched the remainder of the 5th and 6th.

“Lake Park’s [pitcher] is pretty solid, and he shut us down and with the wind blowing like it was going to be a one or two run game,” Head Coach Ross Guisti said.

The game ended in the 6th when lightning struck. Prospect at that point had a runner on first, but the final score came out to 0-2 with Lake Park ahead.

“We want to play good competition,” Guisti said. “Lake Park is a solid team, a solid program and these are the types of games that are going to make us better. [If we] play hard and if everyone competes, puts the ball over the plate, and makes things happen, If we do the little things wins take care of themselves. We just want to put ourselves in a position where we are tournament ready.”
