Wednesday, May 27, the student body piled into the fieldhouse. The purpose of such a massive gathering was the annual Honors Assembly. Its intent is to recognize the dedication and determination that specific members, students and groups have put forth this school year.
18 teachers were honored for various outstanding contributions to education, school spirit and activities.
Clubs, sports and other school activities were also recognized in abundance. Athletics such as badminton, cross country, diving, gymnastics and wrestling were all recognized. Additional activities such as, Art, DECA, FCCLA, Music (band/orchestra), Orchesis, Speech, the Crest, and the Prospector/Prospector Now were applauded for their accomplishments.
Numerous seniors were awarded Senior Medallions for similarly demonstrating determination and participation throughout their high school careers in academics, athletics and activities.
Senior Lauren Becherer, who was awarded the Principal’s Award Senior Medallion, proved the amount of effort it takes to receive such recognition. Becherer participated in a surplus of activities each school year such as, tennis, badminton, FCCLA Illinois State President, Young Life, Senior Class Board, Principal’s Advisory Council, Knights Way, LINK, Battle-Bots and Service Club.
“It means a lot to me that they gave me [this award],” Becherer said. “I was not expecting [it] at all.”

Actually, Allison O’Connor was given the award for English. Jessica Sell received the medal related to FCCLA(?).
