Prospect High School’s own Lee DeWyze has made it to Hollywood.
This summer DeWyze, from Prospect’s class of ’03, auditioned for American Idol and made it past the first round with a “yes” from all four judges (including guest judge Shania Twain!).
DeWyze, who brought his acoustic guitar but wasn’t allowed to use it for his first audition, sang “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers.
While his audition wasn’t shown on the original airing of the Chicago auditions (though there was a brief moment where DeWyze appeared triumphantly holding a golden ticket), all of the auditions were shown a few nights ago. To catch a glimpse of DeWyze’s audition, click here.
Two years ago The Prosector did a two-page spread on DeWyze and his blossoming music career in its April 25, 2008. To read more about Lee’s Prospect experience, click here, and to read about some of his original songs and a Q&A with Lee, click here.
