The Prospect Dance team headed to state last night after placing fourth in sectionals. They will perform their routine, choreographed to Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire,” at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
Being among 30 chosen teams, Dance coach Kristin Burton estimates that the team’s sectional score ranks 15th among those they will compete against at state.
Burton feels the current team is very strong, although the girls were quite uneasy when they first saw the competition at sectionals. One of the main challenges they faced with their performance was the faced paced counts underneath the slower lyrical music. Burton believes the effort of the team will pay off today and onto Saturday.
“We worked really hard for this, and we can set the bar for anything,” Burton said.
