The Kickoff Celebration for the 2011 Relay for Life of Mt. Prospect/Prospect Heights will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. This year’s Kickoff Celebration will be at the Mt. Prospect Holiday Inn located at 200 E. Rand Road.

The Kickoff is an opportunity to learn more about the Relay for Life that’s taking place on May 20-21 this year.

Team registration will be available at this Kickoff Celebration. Registration of cancer survivors will also take place at Wednesday night’s Kickoff. Luminarias will be available for purchase.

People who choose to attend this Kickoff will be able to learn more about donating items for the American Cancer Society raffle. They’ll be able to get more information about becoming an event sponsor as well.

This year’s Relay for Life fundraiser is from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. on Friday-Saturday, May 20-21. Teams of friends and family members walk laps around Prospect’s stadium track.

The Relay is an event to celebrate cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost their battle to cancer. Relay for Life is a fundraiser to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Entertainment will be continuous throughout the night. Concessions will be available for those who attend. Several solemn ceremonies will occur throughout the night, as well.
