Long time gymnastics and diving coach and Prospect community member Pat Kivland passed away Nov. 15.Kivland, often known as simply “Kiv”, had been at Prospect as a student, physical education teacher  and  a gymnastics and diving coach until his recent retirement. He was a dedicated, patient coach, could lighten the room with his stories and would lend an understanding ear to anyone who need it.Kiv touched the life of every athlete he worked with and will be sincerely missed by everyone at Prospect. Please check prospectornow.com early next week for a more in-depth look at the legacy that Kivland left on the school community. He lost his fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis after being diagnosed in March of this year.
The wake will be held Sunday Nov. 20 from two to seven p.m at the Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 North Main Street in Wauconda. Funeral mass will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Wauconda on Monday 21 and will begin at 10 a.m.
